Wifi security

Hi everyone!

Today I´m going to talk about Wifi

The wifi protocols and each speeds are:

802.11b → 11Mbps
802.11a → 54Mbps
802.11g → 54Mbps
802.11n → 300Mbps
802.11ac → 1300Mbps

Wifi SSID (Service Set Identifier)

WEP is the most popular Wi-Fi security algorithm in the world, but is the less secure, it´s so popular because first it has more compatibility with machines, like 17 years ago.

WPA is the system that sustitued WEP, the security is normal is not the final solution for the WEP problem.

WPA 2 replaces WPA and it's the most secure, but it's not 100% secure. (remember that here in internet there is not something 100% secure)

Cryptography

Today I´m going to talk about Confidentiality

Confidentiality is privacy.The data is only visible for the people who have rights.

We can get confidentiality with "cryptography", that consists is change your information so no one can understand it, except you and the ones who have permissions. In other words, encrypt the data. The opposite is decrypt.

To encrypt something you need an algorithm and a key. An algorithm is the patron you use to encrypt data, and the key is the number you use to do the algorithm.

And example, in the Caesar encryption, with the key 8.

Trojans

Hi everyone!

Here I´m going to put the information that we have recorded in the video we have done Elsa and I.

What are Trojans?

In computing, Trojan horse, or Trojan, is any malicious computer program (malware) wich is used to hack into a computer by misleading users of its true intent. Trojans are hiden malwares that enter in your computer when you download something, for example, a song.

This infection allows an attacker to access users´personal information such as banking information, passwords, or personal identity (IP address)

Why it has that name?

The term is derived from the Ancient Greek story of the wooden horse that was used to help Greek troops invade the city of Troy by stealth.

Famous Trojan attacks:

A “trojan” steal 5’8 million euros from the Spanish bank’s clients.

Why are so dangerous?

They are so dangerous because you don´t know when it enter in your computer, you can have one and it can turn on your webcam or look at what are you writing on that moment. Your computer Works normal, so you don´t notice it.

How to detect and destroy them:

You can instalate an application that detects and eliminates the trojan form your dispositive, obviously it has to be secure. It’s not easy, but you can search it in google.

Passwords

Hi!

Today we are going to talk about passwords, something very important in our lives, because we have many things with passwords, like, the mobile phones, the computers, the emails, social media, or games.

So, I´m going to tell you 6 recommendations to have a secure password:

1. It should have more than 8 elements

2. It can´t have something similar to your name, username, the name of the place you work...

3.It can´t include information about you, like the date or the place of birth, ID...

4. It can´t include words from the dictionary in any language

5. It isn´t formed with numbers or letters that are near in the keyboard

6. It should contain elements of this groups:

-Capitail letters: A, B, C...
-Small letters: a, b, c...
-Digits: 0, 1, 2, 3...
-Special elements: $, %, (, ), &, ^...

Another recommendation is to don´t use the same password in all your accounts, and for don´t forget them, you can use a Password manager.
We can use programs that help us remember all the passwords we need and also meet all the necesary requirements to make the password secure and strong.

Let´s create a user profile!

Hi everyone! ;)

Today we studied how to create a new user profile:

First we have to go to control panel:

Now let´s go to User Accounts and Family Safety

Then you have to click on User Accounts:

Now we are going to click on Manage Another Account:

And Create a New Account:

Here you have to put your user´s name and choose the option that you want (Standar user or Administrator user) and click on Create Account:

Click on your profile to put a password:

Click on Create a password:

Finally you have to write the password twice and click on Create password:

But we haven´t created a user profile, we have created a user account. The user profile is created by the system the first time the user acces to the system.

Type of users!

Hi!

Today in class we had learnt something about type of users, there are two types:

Local users; they can be used on one machine there are two types: standar or administrator

-Standar user: users that have limited power in the system. They are not able to create new users or change basic configuration parameters like IP Address or even install software.

-Administrator user: these users have total access to the system, and they can create users

accounts, change passwords for other users.

Domain users: They are a group of machines and only one, can control the others.

+Advantages: You don´t need a password of each device if you have the domain user

-Disadvantages: If the network is down you can´t access to your computer
